The magnate Elon Musk is famous for driving major projects and companies that aspire to bring about significant changes for humanity. The entrepreneur claims to know how to meet the energy needs of today’s society.
The South African millionaire, creator of companies such as Starlink, Tesla, and SpaceX, asserts that an enormous “fusion reactor in the sky” could be capable of providing all the necessary electrical energy. Moreover, he said that this reactor already exists.
Elon Musk is referring to the Sun and asserts that currently humanity is not taking full advantage of all the energy this star provides. He expressed this in an interview he gave on the popular American podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience.”
To demonstrate that his idea about solar energy was not just an offhand statement, Elon Musk detailed to Joe Rogan a concrete plan to supply the United States with electricity from this source. The magnate evaluated that a large photovoltaic plant with an approximate area of 160 x 160 kilometers would be enough to cover the energy needs of the United States. “That thing just works. We have a giant fusion reactor in the sky,” explained Elon Musk.
If this idea were to succeed, similar energy plants could be installed in other territories using the same technology and, of course, the same “fusion reactor.”

Musk’s idea involves cheap and eco-friendly energy, but not entirely free. This large project would require an enormous investment and production of elements to be realized, including solar panels and batteries.
This would result in a significant business opportunity for Musk himself. In 2016, the billionaire acquired the company SolarCity for $2.6 billion, a company especially dedicated to the production of solar energy systems.
In this regard, Tesla already offers solar panels and battery packs to provide energy to homes and businesses in the United States.
